The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. There will be women's competitions in addition to the regular men's and women's competitions. The competition for women

This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. After maintaining her lead throughout competition, Koski was declared the overall winner. Tall and Eramoo O'Connell came in second and third, respectively. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.

The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).

Pegboard contest

Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. It was added to the Games' summer Olympic program along with double-unders and dumbbell overhead squats. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

System of cutting

The CrossFit Games will once again employ a cutting system for the individual competition. The cuts are not as severe as those used in past Games but they are still very different. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. The scoring system used in 2019 was virtually identical to the 2021 one, so it is probable that this will continue.

This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. The six first events lead to major cuts. The field is then reduced to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.

Reebok has announced new sports shoes, clothing, and other equipment for the CrossFit Games. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They're made to fit multiple fitness needs. However, the company will no longer refer to itself as the "Reebok CrossFit Games" as it does now.
